Opinion: Republican policies are making our economy the most competitive in the world

(Sinclair Broadcast Group)

The United States is back in first place as the world’s most competitive economy.

Every year, the World Economic Forum releases a Global Competitiveness Index.

The index rates 140 countries on a zero to 100 scale in terms of competitiveness of their economies. This year, the United States scored 85.6, making it the most competitive economy in the world for the first time in a decade.

Our economy beat out China, which was ranked 28th and Singapore, Germany and Switzerland which came in second, third and fourth respectively.

Our economy is prospering because President Trump, hand in hand with the Republican controlled Congress, has implemented policies which concentrate on three things:

  1. Reducing burdensome over-regulation on American businesses and taxpayers.
  2. Incentivizing companies to keep their jobs and investments here in the United States.
  3. Putting American interest first on the international stage.

It is because of these guiding principles that manufacturing optimism is at all-time high, unemployment is historically low and worker satisfaction on the rise. A competitive economy allows the American people to invest where they want and to ultimately achieve their vision of the American dream.

Here’s the bottom line: These principles of fairness, simplicity and choice will allow us to leave behind a culture of winning and economic prosperity for our children and grandchildren.

Let us hope that the Congress continues to implement President Trump’s agenda and keep our economy at the top.
