"I'm really excited about the future of Niles," Shelton says. "I'm incredibly thankful for everybody who came out to vote today and to all of my volunteers who stood in the rain this morning and throughout the day."

Shelton grew up in Niles Township. After graduating from Brandywine High School he got a degree in economics and management from Albion College.

He has been living in Niles for the past few years and works at his family's business, Shelton's Farm Market.

Shelton replaces Michael T. McCauslin as Mayor.

Opponent Robert Durm is currently on the city council.

" I'm disappointed, but I'd like to thank those who did support me in the election," Durm says. "I still will be on council. So, I'll continue to work for the betterment of the city.l"

Durm says it's up to the next mayor to decide if Durm will continue to be Mayor pro tem.
