The Indiana State Department of Health says flu activity is widespread across the state, and some Indianapolis hospitals are beginning temporary restrictions for visitors in an attempt to curb the spread of the flu.

The restrictions include no visitors with symptoms of influenza, no visitors under the age of 18 and only family members allowed in patient rooms.

Children under 2 and adults over 65 are at the highest risk for experiencing complications of influenza.

it is important to follow guidelines like hand washing and covering coughs. And it is not too late to get your flu shot.
