St. Joseph County Department of Health provides free lead testing for children
A power outage prevented kids from being tested for lead last month but they got the chance to try again tonight.
The St. Joseph County Department of Health says it's important to test kids between the ages of one and six.
High lead levels can cause learning and behavioral problems.
Parents who took part tonight will get their kid's results within two weeks.
If those levels come back high...
“We'll have them get into contact with one of our employees and they can directly talk to them about remediation or different ways to help their child stay a little bit healthier," said Kristen Borrelli, St. Joseph County Department of Health.
The next school testing will be at Harrison Elementary in South Bend on March 21.
