The driver in a wreck Saturday morning could be arrested.

Investigators believe Aaron Payne, 29, of Mishawaka was operating a vehicle while intoxicated, St. Joseph County Police said.

"He was long-form arrested for OWI, causing serious bodily injury," St. Joseph County Police Sgt. William Redman said.

Payne's SUV left the road and roll over on its roof during the single-vehicle wreck at 2 a.m. Saturday near rick and Lilac roads northwest of South Bend.

Payne also suffered a collapsed lung and a broken leg in the wreck, police said.

Police originally reported at least three people were taken to the hospital.

They later confirmed one passenger, Tyler Lagenderfer, 21, also suffered an injury to his arm.

Police planned to forward the results of their investigation to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office.

Correction: An earlier version of this article mistakenly said Payne had already been arrested.
