Athletes hit the track for Together for the Long Run in South Bend
SOUTH BEND —
They were still able to fire off the starting gun Saturday night in spite of some early evening rain.
The weather didn't stop athletes from hitting the track at St Joe High School in South Bend for an event called Together for the Long Run. Abled and disabled athletes are partnered for their events. Hundreds of people took part Saturday night from all over northern Indiana.
“Our mission is to break down disabilities, turn cants into cans and bring the community together. So we do that through a track meet where we pair up abled and disabled individuals,” said Cat Edmonds, organizer.
This is the third year for the Together for the Long Run event.
