Police are investigating what led to the death of a 17-year-old girl in South Bend Thursday night.

Her family is asking anyone with information to come forward.

Tysiona Crawford drove a car into a house on Hildreth Street near Twyckenham last night.

Police say the car had bullet holes, and Crawford suffered at least one gunshot wound. She died at the hospital.

An autopsy completed Friday confirms she died from the gunshot wound and that her death was a homicide.

Metro Homicide has interviewed several witnesses but say no arrests have been made.

Tysiona's aunt told WSBT Tysiona's family was close-knit. This loss is completely unexpected and now they wait for answers.

"We didn't expect this to happen,” said Cynthia Crawford-Burton. “This hurts us to the core. My nephew is sitting over their devastated. Her mother can't even talk. This is hard to process for us. This is really, really hard."

Friday was an emotional day for the family of Tysiona. A senior at Washington High School, she had lot of life left to live.

"17. She's never got a chance to do anything. Nothing,” said Cynthia. “Never got a chance to go to college. This would have been her prom year, everything…She was loved. Everywhere she went she was loved. She was happy, energetic. You know, the bubbly 17. The best years of your life. 17, 17."

What they have left is pictures and memories, but they are hoping for answers.

"If you know anything, anything, please come forth. Please keep us in your prayers. Keep this community in your prayers. It's not just us. Whoever did this, they lost too. There is no winner in this situation. No winner. Nobody wins behind this. So whoever it is, whoever did this, I hope they come forth. I hope they turn themselves in and come forth.""

Special counseling is being made available for students and staff at Washington High School.

Anyone with information is asked to contact County Metro Homicide at (574) 235-5009 or Crime Stoppers at (574) 288-STOP.
