Deadly crash on SR 2 near La Porte County fairgrounds

A deadly crash took place on SR 2 near the La Porte County fairgrounds Thursday morning, according to La Porte County police.

Shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday, officers received reports of a head-on crash that involved one car traveling westbound and the other traveling eastbound.

Police say the driver heading west lost control, crossed the center and crashed into the other car. Medics rushed the driver to a La Porte hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead from those injuries.

A driver and passenger in the eastbound car were treated for minor injuries. Police are looking into reports of speed and wet roadway conditions.
