Helicopter in South Bend aiding local business
SOUTH BEND —
You may have noticed something flying around a St. Joseph County business Thursday.
A helicopter was lowering equipment onto a roof. Crews put 29 air conditioner units on top of the CTDI building on Dylan Drive on the northwest side of South Bend.
The work took about an hour.
While it seems like this would be hard, the pilot says it just takes a little work.
"It's almost like riding a bike, you have to practice. I'm not doing anything special or anything like that, you just have to practice doing it and then you get used to doing it,” said Pilot Randy McCormick.
The pilot says his helicopter can lift about 4,500 pounds at a time and it's not unusual for them to do two jobs in a day.
