La Porte County man gets chance to avoid prison in deadly hit-and run
MICHIGAN CITY —
A man will not go to prison for a deadly hit-and-run.
It happened a year ago in Michigan City.
Marcus Scully received two years of work release and probation.
He could go to prison for the third year if he doesn't pay back the family and meet other court imposed requirements including community service.
The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident causing death.
5-year-old Delaney Klewer was hit and killed.
The judge said there is no evidence of reckless driving, impairment or use of a cellphone.
Police say the little girl ran out in front of Scully.
