Lake Michigan drownings up in 2016
Last year, 46 people drowned in Lake Michigan, according to the Great Lakes Surf Rescue Project.
That's almost twice as much as 2015, which saw 25 drownings.
In all, there were 98 Great Lakes drownings. Lake Erie had the second most with 18.
The group will give several Water Safety School Presentations in Michigan City this week.
Since 2010, the group has tracked more than 536 Great Lakes drownings.
