SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WSBT) — A suspect has been arrested and charged after an exchange of gunfire that occurred during a large outdoor gathering on South Bend’s west side last week.
On Friday, Police responded to reports of multiple shots fired from a large party near Carlisle and Huron Streets.
As officers responded, 45-year-old Roberto Ramirez arrived at Memorial Hospital with an apparent gunshot wound.
Police say Ramirez was at the party and fired a weapon into a large group of people and suffered a gunshot wound after he left the party.
Ramirez was charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun.
This incident occurred one day prior to a shooting that wounded four people in the same area. This exchange of gunfire, as well as Saturday’s shooting, remain active and ongoing investigations.
