Man killed after SUV hits moped in Elkhart County

An autopsy is planned for tomorrow for an Elkhart man who died after his moped was struck by an SUV last night.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office reports that 66-year-old Tad Rheinheimer ran a stop sign at Spring Mill Drive and Montrose Park Drive.

A 19-year-old woman making a turn at the intersection struck Rheinheimer.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
