A Michigan State Trooper was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after a crash in Berrien County.

It happened just after 7 a.m. on I-94 at mile marker 30-- that's near the Napier Road exit in Benton Township.

The trooper was driving behind two MDOT plow trucks which were treating the ice covered highway when he was struck from behind by a semi truck.

Officials say after striking the trooper, the tractor trailer jackknifed and struck him a second time.

The trooper was transported to the hospital with reports of leg pain. They say the injury does not appear serious.

The semi driver was not hurt.

Police are investigating what led up to the crash.
