The holiday shopping season is ramping up, but some of those shoppers don't want to pay.

Police are cracking down on shoplifters.

Stores like Target in Mishawaka are a big target for shoplifters, so Mishawaka officers had a two-day blitz trying to catch thieves in the act.

Mishawaka officers say those shoplifters are bold. They've seen thieves load big vacuums into carts and push them right out the front door.

They're working hard to catch criminals, but there are things you can do to help.

"We’re always getting still photos of potential suspects and looking to identify people," said Asst. Chief Jason Stefaniak, Mishawaka Police Department. "We’re going to take those photos and we’re going to post them on the Mishawaka Police Department Facebook page and each week we’re going to have a ‘Top 5’ to help us identify this person."

Stefaniak says the department talked to 31 people who are suspected of shoplifting.

    Officers also made several arrests.

They're planning on repeating these blitzes all through the holiday season.
