Saint Joseph County welcomed its second Safe Haven Baby Box today.

It's the first one in Mishawaka, located at Fire Station 3 on Douglas Road.

The Safe Haven Baby Box offers mothers an anonymous and safe way to surrender their newborn babies.

Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood says they're currently working on adding more baby boxes around the city.

“We now have plans to go to every single fire station in Mishawaka. That begins next year with the construction in about February of our new fire station number two, which will replace the fire station Main street near McKinley,” said Wood.
