Without a US birth certificate or record of citizenship it's challenging to get an ID.

IDs are crucial to access a range of services.

A mobile ID event today (Tuesday) at Saint Mary's College invited people to obtain a South Bend ID regardless of their citizenship documentation.

People can use it at the library and for city services.

“The South Bend ID program gives you a valid ID that by executive order or Mayor Pete and the city of South Bend," said Juan Constantino, La Casa de Amistad. "City agencies are required by law to accept it as a valid form of identification within city limits."

It costs $25 for South Bend residents to receive an ID.

Discounted prices were offered for senior citizens and children.
