$100,000 -- That's how much money is going into a study to consider launching a train station in St. Joseph County.

According to our partners at the South Bend Tribune, officials are looking at building the station along the South Shore Line in New Carlisle.

The idea is to attract businesses to the area.

Researchers say if more businesses set up shot in the area, there will be more workers who would benefit from a station.

The cost of the study is split by the county and the rail line.

The study will conclude whether there would be enough riders to justify building the New Carlisle station now or to wait.

It's expected to be completed by April.
