ORIGINAL STORY POSTED SATURDAY: Metro Homicide was on on scene Saturday morning after an off-duty police officer found a man's body in the parking lot of Governor Joseph Kernan Park and Notre Dame's McConnell Family Boathouse.

That is located on the St. Joseph River in the 900 block of Northside Blvd.

Police tell us it was a shooting.

There may be a second person in danger. They were with the victim and were seen running from the area, say police.

“We are organizing a search party right now," said Metro Homicide Commander Tim Corbett. "There was a second party that left the vehicle. We don’t know if that person is still alive, if they’re kidnapped, so we have to start an intensive search.”

Police believe the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. and the body was found around 6:40 a.m.

The victim is believed to be from Michigan, according to police.

There is no word on arrests.
