Shots fired at Berrien County home injure boy
Benton Charter Township Police say a 15-year-old boy was was injured this morning when someone shot at his house. He was hit in the stomach and leg.
The shooting happened just after 4 a.m. Police say the injuries are not life-threatening.
The following release was issued this morning by Benton Charter Township Police:
On Saturday 9/15/2018 at 0409 hours the Benton Township Police Department was dispatched to 255 Pine St. on a shooting complaint. Officers located a 15 year old male who had a gunshot wound to his stomach and leg areas. The victim was inside of the home at 255 Pine St. when several gunshots were fired at the house from the street in front of the house. The victim received a gunshot wound to his abdomen/stomach area and to one of his legs. No other occupants of the home were injured in the incident. The victim was transported to the Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph for treatment to the injuries. The injuries are not life threatening. The person or persons responsible for the shooting have not been identified or located. The incident remains under investigation.
