Police say they have found Devin Brantley, who was wanted for murder in connection with the 2017 homicide of 46-year-old Felipe Gutierrez of Ligonier.

They say the 16-year-old has been taken into custody after being located in an abandoned house in the 1800 block of Douglas St. in South Bend today (Thursday).

Gutierrez was found shot to death in the driver's seat of a black B.M.W -- no more than 500 feet from where a children's soccer game was taking place at the time. Witnesses told investigators they saw two black males running from the scene, behind the Charles Black Center.

Brantley would have only been 15 years old at the time.

“It's kind of shocking when you hear that little kids are shooting or dealing with these kinds of crimes,” said a witness back in 2017, when the search had first begun.

Police say Brantley was taken to the St. Joseph County Juvenile Justice Center where he was detained.
