Indiana's Charter School Board says it will not sponsor Xavier School of Excellence, a charter school in South Bend. This will force it to close.

Xavier requested state sponsorship back in March after Ball State University announced it would no longer sponsor the school.

Ball State cited financial issues and failing grades for the change.

Both Success Academy and Career Academy are also charter schools in South Bend.

Career Academy is chartered through Trine University which is located in Angola.
