South Shore passengers waiting for the trains to start moving again Saturday // WSBT 22

WSBT 22's Hilary Powell was off work but found herself right smack dab in the middle of the winter weather story! South Shore Line trains became stuck Saturday afternoon. Hilary was on one of them.

At 1 p.m. ET South Shore issued the following alert:

WB Train 606 and EB Train 503 are currently stopped due to damaged overhead wire. We are working quickly to restore power and move passengers. WB Train 506 out of South Bend may be delayed until power is restored in the Ogden Dunes area.

Hilary says water and emergency blankets were handed out and it was about 30 degrees because the power was out and there was no heat.

At 1:17 p.m. ET Hilary says they switched trains and were moving eastbound.

Train service was restored around 2:30 p.m. WB Train 506 out of South Bend was delayed at least 60 minutes due to earlier loss of power.
