Teenage candidate will run for mayor in South Bend
There's a growing list of candidates to replace South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
Common Council Vice President Oliver Davis filed paperwork to run today. He joins 19-year-old Shane Inez as the only two officially on the ballot so far.
Inez, who filed as a Democrat, owns an Ultra Mobile cell phone store at 303 Chapin St. He graduated from Riley High School in 2017.
Councilwoman Regina Williams-Preston is forming a committee to explore a possible run.
And James Mueller is taking a leave of absence as the city's director of community investment to consider becoming a candidate.
Democratic Party Chairman Jason Critchlow resigned today from that position. He previously said he was considering running for mayor.
Another potential candidate -- Venues, Parks, and Arts director Aaron Perri -- announced today he will NOT run.
