WSBT 22 First Alert Weather: Winter Storms move into Michiana


Sunday update: A very active, wintry pattern is unfolding as we head into 2018.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for La Porte and Berrien counties through midnight tonight.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Cass and St. Joseph (IN) counties through midnight tonight.

A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect for the entire area from 10 p.m. tonight through noon tomorrow.

Another 2 to 4 inches is expected tonight as an intense band of lake effect snow moves east. Locally higher amounts are possible. Another inch or two of lake effect is possible Monday morning before the snow winds down.

Temperatures will drop below zero tonight with wind chills averaging 15 to 25 below zero into Monday morning. Dangerous temperatures and wind chills are also expected Monday night into Tuesday. Temperatures and wind chills this cold are very dangerous and frostbite can occur within minutes. Make sure you cover any exposed skin if you’re going to be outside. It is always a good idea to stock your car with extra blankets.
