Woman sentenced for leaving scene of South Bend crash that killed child
Reka Phillips has been sentenced to 4 years in prison and 2 years of probation for leaving the scene of a crash that killed a 6-year-old in South Bend.
The accident happened back in August at the intersection of O'Brien and Vassar on South Bend's northwest side.
The 6-year-old victim was in a car with her grandmother at the time.
Police say the crash was not Phillips' fault. However, she was charged for not staying at the scene.
Investigators say the 27-year-old had an outstanding warrant for a drug conviction at the time of the crash.
