Make-A-Wish helps Michigan boy become 'Senator for a Day'

WASHINGTON D.C., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Thomas Stephenson's wish was to be a Senator, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Senator Gary Peters' Office it became a reality.

Stephenson, a young man from Greenville, spent the day as a "Senator for a Day" with Senator Peters going to meetings, briefings, press interviews and even spent some time on the Senate Floor.

Tuesday morning, Senator Stephenson met with visiting constituents for Peters' weekly event "Coffee with Gary."

Senator Stephenson was introduced to other senators to talk about shared priorities.

Stephenson has a congenital cardiac condition but also has a passion for politics, according to Peters.

"I was truly impressed with his knowledge, commitment to learning and passion for being an active citizen," Peters said in a tweet.
