Man charged with Kalamazoo liquor store slaying pleaded guilty to second-degree murder
KALAMAZOO, Mich. —
A man pleads guilty Friday to a killing at a Kalamazoo liquor store and is expected to serve a minimum of 28 years.
The lawyer for Jerome Oday II, 27, confirms his client pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and felony firearm in the September 15 killing of Tykarri Shaheed Lucas, 23.
Police said Oday shot Lucas during a fight at J and B Discount Liquor on West Stockbridge Avenue.
The clerk said Lucas died in his arms.
Oday was arrested in Kent County later that day and arraigned on Sept. 17 on charges of open murder.
Lucas was from Benton Harbor and a key witness in the trial of Adarius Furguson.
