Benton Harbor basketball is back in the MHSAA State Quarterfinals thanks to a huge second half surge in the regional final defeating Dowagiac 67-57.

The Tigers will meet Williamston with the chance to reach their second consecutive trip to the state Semifinal and their third appearance in five seasons.

"Each year that is our goal to get to the Breslin Center. Benton Harbor is a basketball school, so we want to go out and you know give it our best shot." said Benton Harbor head coach Corey Sterling.

Sterling's squad did reach the Breslin Center last season but unfortunately fell to eventual state champion New Haven in the Semifinal, a result that had a major impact on the Tigers this season.

" I feel good, I just hope to keep going." said sophomore leading scorer Carlos Johnson, "I cant wait to get to the bright lights again to prove what we didn't prove last year. So we have something to work for this year. "

For much of the season, the Tigers have been one of the top teams in Class B losing just one game to Class A Hazel Park.

"We have to play like there is more out there. We cant just give up if we're down and if we're up we can't just cruise." saif senior point guard Dennie Brown after the team's Regional championship win, "We have to go until we can't go no more. We have to play with more heart than the other team and we have to want it more than anybody else does. "

Benton Harbor and Williamston will tip-off on Tuesday, March 20 at 7:00 pm EST. The quarterfinal contest will be held at Ionia High School.
