BK Outstanding Student Athlete: Marian's John Brach
There are still several high school football teams still alive in the Indiana state tournament. The Marian Knights are one of them thanks to their do-it-all player John Brach.
Brach said, "It's the best feeling in the world, you don't want to have to put up the pads, especially when it's your senior year and you probably won't be able to put them on again. It's the greatest feeling to be out here."
The senior has played just about every position for Marian in his three years as a starter.
"I love it, just because I want to contribute in any way possible, so the more ways that they let me get on the field and have an impact on the game, I'm happy to do it," said Brach.
"John's a competitor at heart, and I think our kids really build off of that and they get a competitive edge when they are in the ball game with him as well as a comfort level with his experience," Head Coach Mike Davidson added, "When you look at this senior group, I think I calculated heading into the year, they had already practiced an extra full season due to the playoff runs the last three years."
That experience from Brach and his 13 fellow seniors has also led Marian to it's fourth straight 3A Sectional crown, for the first time in school history!
Brach said, "It's just amazing knowing that you made history and that you've done something that no one at the school has done before, it's something that you'll cherish for the rest of your life."
Brach and the Knights will cherish some more November football, when they face Bishop Luers for the second-straight season, this Friday in the Regional Championship.
