Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete: Bremen's Karlee Feldman
Any breakdown on offense for Bremen girls basketball has had a fairly simple solution. Get the ball to Karlee Feldman.
“She’s got her hands up and she’s got a seven-foot wingspan. Just throw it up there and she’ll go get it.” said Bremen Head Coach Alex Robinson.
With an inexperienced roster, Feldman has had to shoulder much of the responsibility for this team.
"One of the things we always want Karlee to do is be more assertive. Be as assertive as possible and through these first eight games, she hasn’t really had an option. She's had to shoulder a lot with this group and you see that statistically."
Feldman has done a little bit of everything for the Lions, averaging almost 18 points per game while pulling down 12 rebounds and blocking four shots per contest. Her contribution to the final box score is evident, but it’s the improvements to her leadership that stands out most to Feldman.
"Not having any seniors, kind of makes me feel like I can actually say more and the girls really listen to me.” said Feldman, “Last year I didn't really talk much, but this year I talk to the girls a lot more on and off the floor I try to lead."
The junior will hope to continue leading her inexperienced team on Friday as the Lions will continue Northern Indiana Conference play on the road against South Bend Adams. Tip-off between Bremen and Adams is set for 7:00 pm EST.
