Eddies fall despite record-setting state final
DETROIT, MI —
After their best season in program history, Edwardsburg had one game standing between them and their first ever state title in football.
Friday night, the Eddies faced the defending champs in Division 4, Grand Rapids Catholic Central.
They were down 28-13 in the third quarter and in big trouble, but Caden Goggins bails them out with a 99 yard kick-off return. Goggins ties the state finals record and put Edwardsburg within a score.
Unfortunately, Grand Rapids Catholic Central had a record-setting performance themselves. Nolan Fugate had five touchdowns for 306 rushing yards, also tying a state finals record.
Grand Rapids Catholic Central beats the Eddies in a thriller, 42-31.
The Eddies finish the season runners-up, their best year in school history.
