NOTRE DAME — The Notre Dame men's lacrosse team is preparing for a rematch this Saturday.
Notre Dame will play #2 Virginia in the national semifinals.
Virginia is the only team to beat Notre Dame (12-2) this year. The Cavaliers actually bested the Irish twice, and the Irish are fired up for a third shot.
"We've beaten everybody else we've played this year," Notre Dame head coach Kevin Corrigan said. "I want to play them. If we're going to win the championship we've got to go through them."
Notre Dame is actually 18-3 over its last 21 games dating back to last season, with all three losses coming at the hands of UVA. But Corrigan told us WSBT he believes that's actually an advantage for his team.
Why?
"The advantage you have is that you know what you did last time is not good enough, and you have to make some changes either in your execution or your strategy," Corrigan explpains.
"If what you did was good enough the last time, it's difficult to make changes because you don't want to mess with what was a winning formula. The advantage is to the team that knows they have to make some changes."
Notre Dame and Virginia will play at 2:30 PM Saturday for a spot in the national championship game.
