Irish prepare for 1 vs. 2 showdown with Louisville
For two of the past three seasons, the ACC title in women's basketball has come down to Notre Dame and Louisville.
You can expect the atmosphere to get kicked up a notch tomorrow (Thursday) when the two teams meet at Purcell Pavilion.
These aren't just the best two teams in the ACC -- as of Monday, they're the best two teams in the COUNTRY!
Notre Dame is getting ready to host is second 1-versus-2 match-up in the last six weeks, and this one may be even bigger than the U Conn game.
That game grabs headlines, but a win tomorrow would put Notre Dame in the early driver’s seat for an ACC title.
That is precisely where they want to be.
"That is the the most important thing: you always want to be in control of your own destiny coming down through the conference,” said coach Muffet McGraw. “Every game you have a chance to be in control and then when it comes down to the final game, you don't want to depend on someone else losing or somebody beating somebody they're not supposed to make you look better. We have to take care of our own."
WSBT 22’s Pete Byrne asked, “How much does that game last year motivate you?”
"No one's ever going to forget about that loss last year,” replied Jackie Young. “You just keep that in the back of your mind. It's ACC play and everyone's ready. We're really just excited for the game tomorrow. Just ready to play."
