'Just fun to be back' – Fans enjoy a chilly South Bend Cubs home opener

Notre Dame women's basketball head coach Muffet McGraw throws out the first pitch at the South Bend Cubs home opener.

Baseball in the bend is back!

Saturday was opening day for the South Bend Cubs, and fans ventured out to Four Winds Field despite the cold.

"Just fun to be back cheering, yelling, seeing the young kids come up," said one fan.

WSBT 22's DJ Manou spoke to the fans and Muffet McGraw, who threw out the first pitch.

"It's such an honor on opening day to be able to throw out the first pitch," she said, "but I was thrilled that I actually got it across the plate!"

The South Bend Cubs beat West Michigan 1-0 for the first win of 2018.
