Notre Dame women preview top-three showdown with Louisville

Thursday night, the Irish women's team gets arguably it's toughest test until the tournament. Notre Dame will visit Louisville in a game that's likely going to go a long way towards determining the ACC champion.

The University of Notre Dame is currently No. 2 in the nation. Louisville sits at No. 3 and is undefeated on the season.

Head Coach Muffet McGraw said, ""I think we love the big stage. I think that's why they come to Notre Dame, for these kind of games: A Top-5 matchup. Its an NCAA tournament game feel. Both teams are going to be really good this year so we're really ready for this game. I think its been kind of looming in the future and its one that we've gotta take it just like every other game."

However, the Cardinals haven't beaten Notre Dame since 2009, that's a string of 11 straight wins in the series for Notre Dame.

Of course, this is the best team Louisville's ever had, and the Irish have just seven healthy scholarship players.

"We want to win every games so we need to beat them or it wouldn't be every game. We want to win an ACC title. They're one of the best teams in the ACC, so we need to beat them," said junior guard Marina Mabrey.

It's a marquee ACC match-up that will feel more like a final four game, and the Irish can't wait.

Junior Forward Jessica Shepard said, "As a kid this is what you kind of dream about. A big match-up between Top-5 teams. It'll be packed so its a great opportunity."
