Notre Dame senior Marina Mabrey recognized as one of top point guards in U.S.
Notre Dame senior guard Marina Mabrey was recognized today (Monday) as one of 20 Division 1 basketball players to watch.
The list of 20 female players is a part of the 2019 Nancy Liberman Award, in connection with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
Mabrey is applauded for demonstrating leadership and excellent play-making and ball-handling abilities.
She has averaged 14.4 ppg, 4.8 assists and 2.6 steals per game in an entirely new position, recently moving from shooting guard to point guard.
She has knocked down 85 three-pointers, marking the second most for a Notre Dame season. She has collected 194 three-pointers so far and is just 68 away from tying the record set by Alicia Ratay (1999-2003).
The winner of the 2019 Liberman Award will be unveiled in Tampa, Florida in April, in connection with the WBCA Convention and NCAA Tournament.
