Notre Dame arrives in Orlando for Citrus Bowl
The Florida sun probably never felt so inviting as it does for Notre Dame this week.
As the temperatures dip into the single digits here in Michiana, the Irish football team is down in Orlando.
The team arrived Tuesday to begin final preparations for the bowl game.
The players spent Tuesday evening at a welcoming party where they got their bowl gifts.
Of course, it’s not all fun and games. The team practiced Wednesday at a local high school in Orlando.
Head Coach Brian Kelly says it's great for his guys to enjoy the reward as long as they don't forget they're there on a business trip.
"You've got to focus on your work and when you're done with work, enjoy the bowl game," Kelly says.
"We've got to have good practices. We have to continue to prepare the right way and then enjoy what's been put in front of you. But it can't be all comfort. There's got to be some work and some intentional focus on what you need to do to beat a very good team in LSU.
The Irish have four more days to get ready.
The Citrus Bowl is on New Year’s Day at 1 p.m.
WSBT 22’s Pete Byrne and Adam Derengowski are heading to Orlando later this week.
