Notre Dame volleyball coach resigns due to health issues

After three seasons and plenty of progress, there will be a new yet familiar face leading Notre Dame volleyball next season.

Irish head coach Jim McLaughlin has announced his intention to resign due to health issues.

Associate head coach Mike Johnson will take over the position effective July 1.

McLaughlin helped revitalize the program leading them to back-to-back 20-win seasons and their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2012.

His replacement brings plenty of head coaching experience to the table. Johnson led Xavier to 5 straight winning seasons from 2010-2014.
