The number one ranked Irish have won 11 straight games in the midst of playing the toughest strength of schedule in women's college basketball
Tomorrow (Thursday), it continues, as they play their final non-conference match-up of the year and renew their rivalry with another one of the bluebloods in women's hoops.
Tennessee leads the all-time series winning 21 to Notre Dame's seven, but tomorrow the Lady Vols limp into the prime-time match-up, dragging their FIFTH straight loss back into Thompson-Boling Arena.
While a 1 and 5 SEC losing streak has kicked them out of the polls, Notre Dame knows all too well that anything can happen in the Irish versus Volunteer installments
"They are still a great team,” said Marina Mabrey. “Whatever happened during those games doesn't really matter because it's a rival. It's a really big game. They're going to be ready to play. I expect to see a really good Tennessee team tomorrow."
"It's kind of funny, you never want to play a team when they are on a winning streak,” said Muffet McGraw. “But you really don't want to play one when they are on a losing streak either because it's a game for them it could turn their whole season around. It's always an important game for us. We're stepping out of the ACC, so it's a chance to really do some things a little bit differently and we don't have the pressure of we have to win this game to stay number one in the ACC.”
