South Bend St. Joe Softball will play in the 3A state championship for the first time in program history.

After getting knocked out eight different times in the semi-state over the past decade, standing in their way of their first-ever title, is defending state champ New Palestine.

Head Coach Earl Keith said,"We know we have a challenge, but the challenge for them it to hit our pitcher, and beat our defense, everything's clicking. This group will not be nervous."

But after finally winning a semi-state crown, St. Joe wants to take that final step.

Senior center-fielder Grace Quinn said,"Be relaxed. Good competition in conference. The bases are the same. The fences are the same. Just play the game we've been playing since we were five years old."

"Everyone loves an underdog. Play St. Joe softball," said senior catcher, Megan Welsh.
