Trip to state on the line when Niles & Edwardsburg meet in volleyball

A trip to state will be on the line Thursday night when Niles and Edwardsburg face off on the volleyball court in the Class B regional final.

Niles is enjoying their best season in program history. The Vikings are 40-8-4 and ranked 4th in the state.

And as they prepare to play in their first ever regional final, the have a lot of confidence.

"We compete at a very high level all the time," says coach Jenny Nate. "The top class-A schools in the state."

"I totally believe in them 100%. I think they can beat anybody in the state."

Meanwhile, the Eddies are looking to build on their own momentum.

Edwardsburg has won five matches in a row, including it's first district title in ten years.

The Eddies dropped two matches to Niles this season, including a close, 2-1 match three weeks ago.

But playing in the in the regional final for the first time since 1992...

They're excited about opportunity.

"I think we've made a lot of accomplishments winning tournaments and games that we haven't in past years," says hitter Audrey Bellina.

"The gym's gonna be full and everybody's going to be excited and just staying calm is going to be our biggest challenge and staying in the game mentally more than physically. "
