Burger King Outstanding Student Athlete: Westview's Elijah Hales

In Westview's sectional semi-final win over LaVille, junior Elijah Hales netted his 1,000th point as a Warrior

And since then he's led the Warriors to a sectional and a regional title with a record of 28-1

Hales knew this postseason was going to be special before it began, and it had nothing to do with numbers

"We have really good team chemistry,” Hales said. “I've said that all year, and a love for the game. WIth that I think it just leads to results. I think living in Indiana, regardless of where you are from, they dream about competing for a state title someday. And I'm fortunate to be in a good program with teammates and coaches. Knowing that we have that opportunity, we just want to work as hard as we could and play as hard as we could. And fortunately we've put ourselves in a position to make a run."

Westview is still rolling, now heading into the class 2A semi-state game this Saturday.

"We play Oakhill and they're a really big team, and they probably have more size than anybody we've faced so far,” said Hales. “Beyond that we're just going to try to execute the plan our coaches gave us and try to play as hard as we can on a big stage."

"Hopefully we can keep playing a little more for him this season,” said head coach Rob Yoder. “But we've also got one more year with him, which is incredible."
