Durham swats way into ND hoops history

Sophomore forward Juwan Durham entered some pretty elite territory last night.

In Mike Brey's 19 season at Notre Dame, only six players have ever blocked five shots or more in more than one game.

This includes Jordan Cornette, Ryan Humphrey, Torin Francis, Luke Harangody, Bonzie Colson, and after last night, Durham!

It only took Durham six games to do it!

He swatted five shots and the Irish needed every one of them as they edged Illinois 76-74.

The transfer from UConn is showing the ability to impact the game defensively, in a way few guys have under Brey.

"They’re a little nervous to come back down,” said Durham. “If they do want to come back down, I’m going to try and block it again. I just try to put that fear in their hearts.”

"I'm so proud of Juwan Durham,” said Brey. “For him to come in and do that, he deserves it. And as I'm watching it I'm going, ‘We're up double digits and here they come making a run’ and I go, ‘God don't spoil this kid's coming out party with us.’ But he was fabulous and hopefully we can build on that."
