Notre Dame women's basketball program nominated for three ESPYS

ESPN released all of its nominations for the 2018 ESPYS on Wednesday morning, as the Notre Dame women’s basketball program was highlighted in three categories. The Fighting Irish are up for Best Team, Best Moment and Best Play, and fans have the chance to select the winners by voting online at

Notre Dame women's basketball is one-of-seven nominees up for Best Team alongside the Houston Astros, Philadelphia Eagles, and USA Women’s Hockey.

The final seconds of the NCAA Title game when the Irish defeated Mississippi State is one-of-four nominees up for Best Moment. The other nominees include the Vikings defeating the Saints in the NFC Divisional Round, the Golden Knights advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals and No. 16 UMBC upsetting No. 1 Virginia.

And the NCAA Title clinching shot by Arike Ogunbowale is the No.1 seed in the bracket for Best Play.

The ESPYS take place on Wednesday, July 18th. Fans are able to vote for the Irish online at in the following categories: Best Team, Best Moment and Best Play.
